Villain’s Brewing Company – opening weekend

After months of anxiously waiting I attended the Villain’s Brewing Company opening last weekend in Anaheim. The old Modern Times – Leisuretown brewery was bought by brewmaster Brad Kominek from Noble Ale Works & Green Cheek Beer Co, with Isaias Hernndez of Craft by Smoke & Fire bbq. The opening was at the 555 & 559 S Anaheim Blvd. location of the previous brewery in the Anaheim Packing District area and has shown off a great makeover in the new villains’ theme.
They staffed up significantly with very attentive servers all over the newly remodeled venue. The property layout hasn’t changed significantly but the swimming pool has been repurposed, and some of the old unused bar counter space has been opened up to accommodate a larger crowd than I have ever seen there before. The villains’ murals scattered around the property add a fun theme to the previous property, and the old craftsman coffee house will become a higher-end steak/bbq house.
The brisket tacos I ate exceeded my expectations and were a great smaller option to the smash burger I had at a pre-opening event weeks ago. All the beers I sampled were great too; We Did A Thing (Pale) – We Will Never Financially Recover From This (Red) – Fire Emoji (West IPA) – Counter Clockwise (Aussie Pale). I do hope the website-menu is updated with their currently available dishes, but there are still many more items I look forward to in the future, and a welcome change from the previous vegan-only menu.
I have been waiting for the reopening from almost the day the previous brewery abruptly announced its closure, as Josh who patiently kept answering my inquiries can confirm, and look forward to getting back to my old 2/3 weekend visits each month again.
